Genoportrait is the only personal or family portrait that displays genetic uniqueness, instead of traditional characters or faces. How is that possible? It's because we make each Genoportrait based on genetic information contained in DNA. Each DNA contains several highly variable places that are unique to each person. We can read these so-called genetic markers from DNA, and in your Genoportrait you will see them as colored lines.
Product includes:
– a DNA sampling kit in an elegant packaging
– a Genoportrait
– a certificate
– a gift
Extracting DNA
As soon as we receive your order, we will send you a topnotch gift kit for DNA extraction – a small, gentle brush for swabbing cells from the inner side of your cheek and instructions for extraction. You extract the DNA based on which we make your Genoportrait yourself, in the comfort of your home and with a gentle brush. It only takes swabbing along the inner side of your cheek (so-called buccal swab), putting it in the test tube and sending it back to us in the attached envelope. Then we, in our laboratory, obtain DNA from the cells caught on the brush.
Picking color
The Genoportrait SINGLE is monochromatic and you choose the color of the genetic profile displayed yourself. The color chart is on the top menu or can be found HERE, but you don't have to rush to pick a color. You can choose the color scheme of your Genoportrait calmly after placing an order using a sampler, which we will send to you by post. And if you need more time to think it over, you can pick a different option anytime up until we send your Genoportrait for print.
Picking size
Genoportraits are offered in sizes S (roughly equivalent to A4) to XXXL (150 X 100cm).
Genoportrait | Width | Length |
---|---|---|
S | 30 cm | 20 cm |
M | 40 cm | 30 cm |
L | 60 cm | 40 cm |
XL | 80 cm | 60 cm |
XXL | 100 cm | 70 cm |
XXXL | 150 cm | 100 cm |
Picking material
The paintings are printed on the finest, low-maintenance materials:
- alu-bond (light aluminum plate)
- acrylic (shiny acrylic plate). From size XL acrylic Genoportraits are reinforced with an aluminum plate on the back side.
Next there is a black and a white background to choose from. What is new is that we also offer combining a Genoportrait with your chosen photograph. This type of Genoportrait is called Genoportrait VISION and can be ordered HERE.
As with picking out the color of lines, you don't have to rush to pick out a background and material right away. Before adding the product to cart click on the option "Selection after ordering" and up until we send your Genoportrait for print you can take time with your choice.
How to read a Genoportrait?
You don't have to understand genetics to understand your Genoportrait. Along with the Genoportrait, you will receive a certificate from us with a short explanation, the values of your markers and a sketch of their location in the Genoportrait. We know that the Genoportrait sparks interest and curiosity of those around. This way you will be prepared to interpret all that hides behind this personal image.
What happens after you order it:
We will send you a DNA sampling kit. Don't fret – this is a fine brush to wipe the inside of the cheek + sampling instructions. We will also send you a color sampler. In the comfort of your home you will then take a DNA sample, select your Genoportrait color combination and send both back to our lab by mail. We will analyze the sample and produce your Genoportrait within 4 weeks.
Genoportrait is delivered ready to hang on the wall (with a hanging mechanism on the back), shipped safely wrapped in bubble wrap and a cardboard box.
"The possibility to portray the DNA of a person on canvas is an excellent idea, it allows everyone to co-create, or more precisely complete the designed space with themselves. It is a portrait, which is completely true to life. It is wonderful how each person can make for such a harmonic image. Simultaneously, the possibility to capture partners or entire families in one picture seems amazing to me. It is uplifting how each and every one of us can be "painted" a grand art, create it with oneself".
